HOW DO I KNOW IF MY PRODUCT REQUIRES NOM MARK?

Harmonized Codes are a regulated system used to classify products and their corresponding tariffs and applicable standards in our country.

It is important to have accurate classification of your product. It is an 8 digit code and should be provided by your customs broker or Exports Department.

Foreign manufacturers should be aware that, if there is a mandatory product standard applicable to their goods, Mexican Customs may deny entry of any goods that do not comply with the standard.

CONSUMER INFORMATION: MEXICAN LABELING REQUIREMENTS

Mexican labeling requirements differ depending on the products introduced in Mexican market.. ANCE in its Inspection Unit , is accredited to verify consumer information in the following categories:

Electric and Electronic products under NOM-024-SCFI-1998, that regulates Labeling regulations as well as required information for warranties, instructions and packaging for these products.

Consumer information for general products under NOM-050-SCFI-2004 excluding

Consumer information for food and beverages underNOM-051-SCFI-1998

Leather under NOM-020-SCFI-1993-This standard covers raw hides, leather, fur skin, all articles leather or leather composition, saddlery and harness, travel goods, handbags and similar containers, apparel and clothing accessories, footwear and parts thereof, leggings, and products that have the appearance of leather
